World Premiere: Tibor Szasz, piano, Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C.
The Elegy for piano might be termed an "elegiac fantasy." It is a classical embodiment of abstracted jazz elements, and is constructed in a basic three-part form (ABA). The Elegy was written in memory of Glinsky's father, the sculptor Vincent Glinsky. It is one of his most widely performed pieces.
